1.19.23 // 2 New Tattoos

I added two tattoos to my collection this fall.
.
Each of my 5 tattoos has meaning attached to the ink sketched permanently on my skin. There is one big "through line" and then smaller stories and connections attached to them too.
.
(*disclaimer, I don't think tattoos have to have meaning, they are art, you do you).
.
Here is the meaning of my two new pieces, a Cosmic Seal and the Big Dipper...
.
Cosmic Seal: this was meant to serve as a reminder of play, levity, and the flow of life. It is a reminder that fun is abundant and I get the opportunity to create it or slow down enough to see it and partake in it. That was the big meaning, but it also was a representation of the Pacific Northwest and the last year of my life. There is an incredible bend in the river that runs through Squamish where the seals would play.
.
The Big Dipper: a representation of a constellation I've seen all over the globe. I've seen it framed by the Alps in France, towering over the White Mountains while I bathed in a hot spring in Bishop, California, and dancing over the Chief in Squamish, British Columbia. It is also a representation of the love I have for a person in my life- a pair, the big dipper, and the little dipper.
.
The timing of these tattoos is a bit like the universe laughing with me. They came to me as chapters were closing. And I could regret these tattoos, but instead, I feel like I couldn't have timed the tattoos better. They are a part of my life, they were monumental parts of who I am today and where I'm going tomorrow.
.
And, chapters have to close in order for new stories to be written...
.
I owe immense gratitude to @ink.dust for designing these tattoos and for creating such an incredibly loving and warm environment for me to receive them. I can't wait for more tattoos and conversations with Steph. I truly can't recommend her enough. (Steph, I feel like you're cut from the same stardust as me!)
