6.26.23 // A Home with Me

You always have a home with me.
.
I can't give you four walls and a roof, but I promise the four walls of my beating heart will keep you safer than any walls in this often hard chaotic world.
.
I can't shelter you from the storm outside, the real raindrops that bead on your eyelashes and gather at the nape of your neck, but I promise the home in my heart will keep the storm inside at bay and keep your tears disguised as raindrops from seeping into your skin.
.
I can't give you a place to completely shed your soaking wet clothes, but I promise you can shed every layer with me when you step through the front door of my soul. No matter your state, riddled with anger, seething with sadness, worried with disappointment, or anxious with nerves, you are welcome here.
.
Because home isn't the walls around us, the structures we've built to separate us from nature. It's the nature that thrives in us, the place inside of me where you are safe, fiercely protected, and deeply loved.
