5.8.20 // Average Narcissist
"Average Narcissist".
.
This isn't the first time I received a comment like this on one of my Instagram photos.
.
While I COULD just ignore it, I won't.
.
Would you shout "narcissist" at me if we were in person? If you didn't have the shield of the internet to protect you, would you feel powerful enough to call a stranger that name based purely on your own assumptions and judgments? I would hope not.
.
In my opinion, it's unacceptable. It's unacceptable on my page and it's unacceptable on social media.
.
It's simply unacceptable to casually drop shitty comments about people you don't know, you don't care to know, or at a bare minimum, you don't care to spend 5 minutes connecting with them through conversation, reading their words, or understanding their story.
.
Humans.
.
We are humans behind these highlight reels, I mean Instagram accounts, and as humans, all of us deserve love and respect.
.
A few posts ago I asked the people on Instagram to be critical of who they follow- "follow those who inspire and whose community you want to be a part of. Unfollow those who trigger you. And if I trigger you, I’m sorry. And I understand if you need to unfollow me or if this isn’t what you need or want in your social media journey”.
.
Now I'm no longer asking politely, get off my page.
.
Get off my page if you cannot act with love, speak with kindness, or see beyond these tiny photo boxes.
