5.11.20 // 2020 Freedom

My word for 2020: freedom.
.
What an interesting year it has been so far.
.
In terms of freedom, it would seem as though it has all but disappeared.
.
But in reality, freedom still exists it's just not what I expected.
.
At the start of 2020, I would have defined "freedom" as room to roam, shaking off the need for basecamp and a traditional career, and only answering to myself (and Scout).
.
But freedom, in 2020, has become so much more than just saying no to some pretend boxes and adhering to a very rudimentary definition.
.
This year, freedom for me has transformed into the opportunity to say yes.
.
The freedom to say yes to...
.
Family and friends- putting time, and love into the relationships that needed a little extra to grow.
.
Myself- dealing with inner demons and breaking vicious cycles of self-critiquing, body shaming, and avoiding getting to know who I am and why.
.
Present living- letting myself be fully present in whatever I'm doing (even if it's not classified as "old world" productive, ex. TikTok, but being intentional and not mindless).
.
Freedom "to." Such a small change in vocabulary but such a monumental shift in mentality.
