7.30.24 // Live in the mile we are in...

"Live in the mile we are in..."
.
@runfastah shared this phrase during Badwater135, and it is now a mantra I can't stop thinking about. I repeated it to myself during the race, but I've also said it to myself multiple times since leaving the course.
.
"Live in the mile we are in."
.
The mantra is delightfully simple and yet demanding in the most beautiful way. It is a call to return to the present, to leave future miles, their climbs and challenges, in the future, and to leave the past miles, both their successes and failures, in the past.
.
Living in the mile we are in looks instead like the perspective of radical acceptance and present-moment celebration. It's seeing the little wins around you, the scenery, the air filling your lungs with calm, clean oxygen, and it sees the challenges around you as something to slowly and meticulously work through instead of making it bigger than it needs to be.
.
Living in the mile we are in allows for anxiety to take a back seat to the reality around you and lets you prioritize trust in yourself whether to celebrate or to problem-solve.
.
Living in the mile we are in is also freeing, it let's the constant mindgames of an overthinking and planner like myself to stay exactly where I am, to care for this moment passionately and let go of the past and future as something that while serves a beautiful purpose in other moments, has no weight in this exact moment.
