3.15.23 // Everything Inside of You
What if you had everything inside of you to find safety, love, and freedom?
.
What if the key to a life well-lived is in our minds? Simply waiting for us to choose presence over perfection, presence over persistent worrying, presence over replaying the past.
.
Well, it would seem so simple. Wouldn't it?
.
And here's the thing, the idea is simple, and the practice is difficult.
.
To see our thoughts as simply thoughts and ourselves as something separate, whole, and capable is hard. Damn, it is liberating when you start to wrap your head around it.
.
It also presents an interesting challenge for the concept of self-help, the demanding mandate of digging into our pasts to "heal" our traumas, and the consistent need to better ourselves.
.
If we chose to de-charge the thoughts that were laced with perfectionism, guilt, shame, people-pleasing and pivoted towards seeing our thoughts as guides, a way of understanding ourselves in the external world, and the freedom from shackles placed on us by societal or cultural expectations, our thriving would emanate because we would burst from the inside out, with our own truth, our intuitions, and love.
.
Do I have this nailed down? No.
.
Am I struggling to nail this idea down? Yes.
.
It is a battle, that being attached to the outcome, and grappling with control is putting my happiness and my contentment into the hands of others, instead of realizing that the choice is mine to make in every moment.
.
I see it now.
