I saw the opposite sentiment ("you are the same person under any moon") have a moment of trending virality on social media and I wanted to talk about how I disagree.
.
The original phrase insinuates that no matter where you go, the travels you take, or the moves you make, you are the same. And sure, our anxieties may linger... our sadness, our insecurities, our fears, our dreams, our existential kinks, our yearnings, and our basic needs may come with us.
.
But, in a new environment, we can't help but process and see things differently. How we think about the world around us and ourselves, how and who we surround ourselves with, it all drastically changes when we change our physical place.

New perspectives are inevitable when we change our environment.
.
When we change our environment we allow the status quo of familiarity and the sameness that keeps us in repeating cycles to be challenged.
.
And sometimes all you need is one new perspective to dramatically shift your whole being.

So change your environment, change your stage, change your routine, shift your perspective, open your heart, widen your mind, and go find yourself under the same moon in a wildly different place and tell me, are you the same?
