.
Wow, it is wild how much a year can change someone.
.
While the posts I wrote had beautiful underlying themes, that phrase is one I’ve been working on eradicating from my repertoire of motivational quotes.
.
Because life isn’t short, it’s long, and calling it short is a way to guilt, shame, and fear yourself into continuing actions that are often impulsive or fueled by the fire of instant gratification.
.
If life is long, then slowing down to enjoy the view just got that much more important.
.
If life is long, then sticking around through the hard stuff just got that much more important.
.
If life is long, then spending both the tangible (money) and intangible (time) wealth on friends and important humans just got that much more important.
.
If life is long, then trusting your instincts and speaking up for your needs rather than being someone you’re not just got that much more important.
.
For me, "life is short" keeps me in chaos, and don't get me wrong, I thrive in chaos, but chaos is not what I need deep down. I yearn for stability, grounding, and presence, in a life I now see is long…
