8.10.20 // Messages for learning
A bright light once told me:
.
"Messages for learning are seldom wrapped in pretty packaging but they can be the most beautiful gift."
.
This comment stopped me in my tracks. I re-read the words several times both in my head and out loud, letting each syllable ring in my ears.
.
How often do we lament over events, feelings, or learnings that cause us anything but happiness and pleasure?
.
Constantly.
.
We try to keep one foot in happiness even when our other foot is clearly pulling us away. We complain, we hide, and we fear anything that doesn't have "pretty packaging" which we can control and unwrap at our leisure.
.
But, what would happen if we jumped both feet into the unknown and relished in the unwrapping gifts that may look dusty, unappealing, and suspicious, but would ultimately grant us happiness in the end?
.
I can't help but wonder if we would ultimately be more balanced because we would feel the full spectrum of emotions and remove the need for fear and control. Perhaps we would learn more about ourselves because our hearts would be open to change. Perhaps we show up more our true selves than before.
.
What do you think would change if we celebrated the gifts for learning no matter how ugly they might be on the outside?
