12.22.21 // 31st Birthday

Today is my 31st birthday.
.
And by god, what a difference a year can make. My 30th year felt wild...
.
But now it feels good to "celebrate" by balancing out the chaos of the last year and just enjoying the slow moments again.
.
This photo captures that slowness, re-prioritization, and intentional rebalancing perfectly.
.
It was taken one early morning (not that early because the sun doesn't rise until about 8 am) in Squamish a few weeks ago and there is something about the morning mountain glow, Scout’s cute morning hustle, one of my favorite warm coats while wearing no pants, that feels so right and so accurate as I'm turning 31.
.
I was debating writing lessons I've learned or re-learned from the last year, but I decided I still have so far to go and life is always going to be about learning, so in truth and in honoring my slowness, there will be no reflection and deep analysis of my year.
.
Instead, I'll simply be proud of myself, excited for the next year, and hopeful that more mountains will be on my horizon, more Scout dances to start my mornings, and fewer pants will be in my future...
