The road ahead isn't known.

We prep for our futures like they are known. We look up the directions, we think about the stops we are going to make, we visualize the terrain, we prep our podcasts and playlists, we plan, we expect, and we assume.
.
But the truth is, control is the great illusion of being human.
.
We believe that if we think things through and hold expectations with a firm fist then the future will succumb to our anticipations.
.
But what a misleading lie that is.
.
No matter what we prep for, life has a way of throwing us curveballs as soon as that firm fist becomes too familiar, too safe, too secure...
.
Because back roads are riddled with potholes, deer crossings, and unexpected roadside attractions that need to be stopped at.

Because life, like love, is an open palm, not a clenched fist.
