12.21.20 // turning 30 [part I]
This week I turn 30.
.
And with this turn of a chapter, I wanted to spend some time thinking about the past, the present, and the future.
.
So here is part 1, looking back...
.
Trying to capture 30 years in one post, feels monumental. There is so much to touch on, so many experiences, feelings, thoughts. So, I'll try to boil it down. Here are 30 things I've learned in my 30 years]...
.
1. Never stop being curious. There is so much to learn!
2. Find lust for the unknown.
3. Feel and express, ALL the feelings. I am not meant to only feel "good emotions."
4. Being selfless is not an admirable achievement.
5. Life events are not a grocery list or a series of boxes to check. Find my own . path and forget the rest.
6. I only have one body, it is scarred and isn't perfect, but it is mine. Trust the body I live in.
7. Not everyone is going to like me. That's ok. I don't like everyone. That's ok too.
8. Don't trade in authenticity to be liked.
9. I am allowed to change.
10. Judgment is addicting because it relieves me from my internal shame struggles.
11. It's not my job to "awaken" anyone.
12. Stop disappointing yourself for someone else.
13. Comparison is a killer of happiness.
14. Glamourising overworking isn't sexy.
15. There is another side to every story.
16. Being defensive holds me back (I've "learned" this, yet I struggle).
17. I have a choice...
18. "We can do hard things"
19. Dance every day like no one is watching, because no one is.
20. A good playlist can't fix everything, but it's a start.
21. Crying in front of people is not a weakness.
22. People aren't paying attention, they are too busy living their own lives.
23. There is never a "right" moment to do something.
24. There is no shame in my past. It's made me who I am today.
25. My parents are human, not heroes, and that is a beautiful fact.
26. Therapy is hard. Not going to therapy is harder.
27. Living "wide awake" is living presently.
28. Life is too short to live a life I'm not happy with.
29. I'm allowed to be afraid, but also know that change is the only constant in life.
30. "Being human is not hard because you’re doing it wrong, it’s hard because you’re doing it right."
